  2. Sure! I'll lay down the possible options we can run with later today so I can ready an info doc about the general gist of the chosen game and what's all that about. Also! Gonna set character sheets in the Additions section for references, and for important stuff to remember as the story progresses

  4. So, I'll be looking at some forum downtime on the 30th of June to potentially the 3rd of July. Why so long? I'm going to try the forum website URL change again to better reflect Discord changes and protection from former members. I'm also planning on including a Gallery - meaning you'll be able to upload photos instead of having to use a third party website and upload to invidious threads. That should be a little more engaging and easier to navigate. Just please don't abuse this addition by uploading hundreds of photos - just choose your BEST images and make sure the file sizes aren't crazy big. I'm also going to continue working on Tazland Archives (which admiringly we kinda neglected) but I hope you will use this as well. Lastly, I'll be away for most of the weekend so that's another reason it'll take awhile. @Board Moderator @Community Leader @Discord Moderator@Platinum Member @Gold Member @Silver Member @Bronze Member

  13. As title says, write a short thing based from the title of a song or its text. Or if you wish, I'll allow soundtracks as well, as long as it's inspired from music. No word limit though keep it a single chapter, so a one shot, but can be as short or long as you want. The event will run through the entirety of the month of June. 17. Oooh, interesting question. The idea for my current original fiction came from a shifter ebook I read. Inspired by the plot behind the book, I wanted to do something similar so "Of Wolves and Serpents: Discovery" was born. It didn't have a title for a good while, however, until the third chapter.

  19. What does attraction feel like to you? I don't even know, tbh. I'm attracted emotionally first and physically second. To me, emotional attraction says much about a person's character and personality, how they interact with other people and yourself, included. Doesn't make sense to me to be attracted to someone who's a looker but has a personality as dry and dead as roadkill or is a dried up a-hole or prune of a human. Whether is online/offline relationships, emotional attraction glues the relationship together (whether romantic or platonic). Without it, it feels dead and one-sided at times and that's not how to live life. I mean, the imp thing as long as you can get along with the other person and adore and acknowledge for their faults of being human, then you're doing alright. Personally, emotional attraction makes me feel good and alive. Lol, I'm not sure what else to say! How do you show someone you have some interest in them? When the "talk" comes up, I tell them. Sometimes, I don't tell them but I do things for them that don't need asking. I let my actions speak louder than my words. What do you when you're totally not interested? I state my boundaries and remain friendly/civil. What's the difference between being flirty and just being nice? I don't know the difference. Source: I'm dense. How do you get over rejection? Hmmm... I've never been rejected but I've been dumped before but here's my two cents. I mull it over the first couple of days. From personal experiences, the heart squeezes itself to the point I think I'm going to die of a heart failure, tbh. Eventually I try to make peace with the situation and focus my attention on things that matter anyway. Over the days it gets better and the heart feels less weighted. During heartbreaks I eat and game and write to get all my angst out then I'll be back to normal. I don't take long to bounce back because mulling over it doesn't change the past. Adding a bit more... I stand by the idea of time being precious. So wasting time thinking about them, about the what ifs and whatnot is a waste of my time as time is a commodity for me. Time is expensive. Are online friendships even real? Can you even have long distance relationships? Yes, I wholeheartedly think so. All my previous relationships were online, long distance relationships and to me, they felt real. I don't need a physical relationship to validate it; on an emotional level, it felt 'right' and the body reacts accordingly. The heart flutters when they're online or when we do voice chat and laugh over dumb, mundane things. I know it wasn't infatuation when the other person is willing to spend hours of their day in crazy timezones waiting for you, to talk with you, to drop good morning/night messages, and so forth. Long distance relationships work when both parties invest time and space in one another. All relationships start with friendships, anyway and more often than not, they're all non-sexual, and are driven by shared interests. I know people will see this differently but these are my personal views/experience.

  26. So, I'm gonna use this thread for a small poll fo you before starting the new RP and maybe opening it to others who might want to play. I reduced the gamelines to 3, based on complexity and terms to catch up. These are the potential games we can do; Vampire: The Requiem - You play one of the undead, relentlessly hunting for the essence of mortality to sustain yourself. Changeling: The Lost - You play as a victim of an alien being, snatched up and altered in the Hedge, escaped and returned to a world that no longer recognizes you. Geist: The Sin Eater - You play as one who has died and made a deal with an incarnation of death itself to live again. This ofc is a very sumarized gist for each game lol. Each of these have their own plot and stuff to do. Just let me know which one caught your eye, and if you have any questions just hit me on discord

  29. I friggen hate adult/child ships. Cyrus/Dawn was scarily popular and I'm like WHY. And yes, screw Ash betrayal fits. Far too many of those about. Another one of those god why situations. Terrible spelling/grammar just peeves me in general. It's not that hard to fix it up but people can't be bothered. Heck, I've got kids in my class who typed their assignments on friggen Word and still didn't use spellcheck.

  30. Hmm, I'm surprised I never commented in this thread. Must have mixed it with a similar thread when it was older lol Let's see... - Terrible spelling when there's no excuse. If English isn't your first language and you don't have spell check, fair enough. If you can speak and write English perfectly for school but don't proofread for fanfiction, that's a little disappointing. - Sexuality bending can be weird but lot of people seem to presume a character is straight by default if they've never shown interest. I presume everyone is bi unless they are established (aka say they are, not judging by their dating history) as otherwise. If a character is gay in canon but you ship them with your opposite gender OC knowing that, I may judge you. - Abusive relationships. Fucking yikes. Unless it's supposed to be in the vein of 'character finds themselves in a shitty relationship and learns to recover afterwards' or the story is aware it's abusive and pointing this out as a bad thing, it's fucking gross. - Sexual violence and other 'shock' content without warnings. I don't want to be reading a T rated fanfiction just for a character to get assaulted. This ties into my next peeve. - Bastardising a character for the sake of your ship. I've seen a disturbing amount of SPN fanfics where a character is warped to either a cheating bitch (usually Lisa) or an abusive partner or brother the love interest needs to get the other character (usually designated the bottom...?) away from. I can only skip through so many fics where Lucifer and Michael are abusive to each other in ways that are wrong even by canon standards. - Ash betrayal fics. They deserve their own point. There's so many of them and they're rarely unique. I've noticed a few of these also fall into the above 'bastardising characters for the sake of your ship', especially if it involves Ash/Serena or the abomination that is Ash/Cynthia. -Lastly, calling back to those last words... Adult/Child ships are fucking disturbing and if you're an adult writing these in a positive light I kindly ask that you get help or stay away from kids.

  31. @onewiththewheels The boy gives you a shocked look. He recovers from his shock and grabs your arm, fingernails digging into your skin. "I knew there was something different about you when you arrived... We are somehow connected, but I cannot see how yet. Maybe you will help free us from this cursed place or become victim to the dreams and nightmares in your mind." He draws in a deep breath and continues. "You should return before the hunt begins." @Stubborn Saber She smiles at you again. "That's a shame. Potential wasted." She puts the doll back. "That girl.... Catherine, you say? She's at the greenhouse. I saw her. I'd take you there, but your leg. Have you taken something for it?" She looks at your leg and frowns. "....Could always chop it off... That'll feed a few mouths..." she murmurs. "...Won't even survive the week..." @TJMike Her smile fades. "Don't make him an enemy." She knocks on the door again. After a few knocks, the door swings open. Sebastian opens the door. "Dylan. Come in." He steps aside and allows you to enter. "You can leave," he says to the old lady. She bows and takes her leave. "Please, take a seat." He gestures to comfortable couches in the living room around the coffee table. There's a carpet python casually coiled up on the couch.

  34. (Don't encourage him XD) Instead of recoiling out of surprise, Florence brought his arms around the girl and hugged back, squeezing slightly but not putting enough pressure to make her feel discomfort. A toothy grin appearing on his face whilst it was out of view to his young company. As she pulled away it disappeared into the same calming smile he used as his mask. "Hmm? Oh no, my life hasn't allowed for settling down with someone and starting a family, but I have been told I'm good with kids. I don't know about that, but I do have some experience babysitting for people." He bashfully rubes the back of his neck in response.

  36. I'm gonna give this my best shot but honestly, *deep sigh* I don't know everyone is different and in general the way I interact with each person is different, so it's hard to set any kind of blanket statement to this What does attraction feel like to you? Well, there are different levels of attraction. But to me, the first cue I get from myself that I'm attracted to someone is a desire to get to know them better. To see more of them and talk to them more. Not that it matters given my amount of free time being basically nonexistent but what can ya do. How do you show someone you have some interest in them? I... actually don't know. I've technically never asked anyone out, every time I've been the one approached. Huh. What do you when you're totally not interested? Well I'm totally not interested in most people so I just treat them like I treat everyone else What's the difference between being flirty and just being nice? I don't know how to describe it, but there are definitely tells. Flirting is essentially just a pointed way of being nice. Directed at a singular person, making them feel like you're focusing on them with your kindness and not just doing it out of your kind heart. Or something. Fuck, I don't know. I suck at this. How do you get over rejection? Uh.... I guess there are plenty of fish in the sea? I can only say how I've gotten over a relationship ending as oppose to being rejected, and it fucking sucks. I feel miserable. I spend the next week and a half (more depending on how long and important the relationship was) wondering if things could've been different, things I would've said differently or different decisions I could've made.... the way I get over it is eventually feeling burned out and apathetic, and then I slowly reset like a wind-up toy. It's really rather pathetic. Are online friendships even real? Can you even have long distance relationships? Online friendships are absolutely real, but you really gotta work for it. Make them part of your daily life and make sure they feel attached to you as a person, not just your online persona. Face to face interaction is so huge between people. Without it, online friendships can be real, sure, but it's hard to say it matches close friends you know in person. Long distance relationships? What? No, of course they're not real. A real romantic relationship requires you to at least meet in person. Long distance relationships only work if you see each often, and in person. Otherwise, what's the difference between that and an acquaintance. Perhaps it can start out that way but at some point you're going to have to actually be around them. Oh, look at me, me and this girl online exchanged usernames and now I call her my girlfriend. We're dating and its totally real, except I've seen her face like once and she's basically just a stranger with an arbitrary label. Nah. At the end of the day, being in a relationship means being part of each other's lives. It does not mean you play video games together every now and then. I suppose it depends on the type of romantic relationship and type of long distance thing it is. But specifically online ones are not real unless you're part of each other's daily lives. You're constantly striving to make up for a huge lack of intimacy and connection and most people cannot accomplish it.

  37. So... I might actually have a bit of a unique perspective on all of this, because I consider myself Asexual/ possibly Aromantic? (A fact that might send at least a few people I know through a loop lol) I've always felt like I wouldn't MIND a relationship if someone I cared about was interested, but I've never felt a compulsion or need to get into one, nor do I get hit with these feelings that other people apparently do like being fascinated by other people's bodies or yearning for something beyond a close friendship. It's not like I don't understand this stuff or could emulate it, but... It's a very detached view, and thus sometimes I feel like I can avoid the bullshit a bit lol. When other people seem to make things overcomplicated it seems very easy to me. What does attraction feel like; I can't exactly answer what attraction feels like to me, but, so far anyway, the closest I've gotten is simply a close friendship. I remember back in college at one point, a girl I was friends with (who herself said she was similarly Asexual... Whether that's true or not idk but I tend to take people's words on their own feelings) got tired and leaned her head on my shoulder while listening to a lecture, and I didn't mind all that much - that's probably what I can expect for myself in a future relationship, one where I might not YEARN for something, but feel comfortable enough to have that sort of contact while... Probably still appreciating the emotional connection more than anything. How do you show interest; Bit of a tricky question for me. I've never felt any such urge - but what I feel is the right thing to do if I DID? And how I'd hope other people would do for me? I'd want myself to be honest about my feelings. Obviously, easier said than done, especially, I imagine, for someone who's genuinely got an attachment theybdont want to lose, but whether you say it or not won't change the other person's feelings, so rather than trying to "flirt" or send "hints", if you have an interest in someone, you need to shoot your shot and just see what the answer is, imo there isn't really a way around this. What do you do when you're not interested; I mean, are we assuming that they ARE interested and I'm not? Well, I remember once, when I was younger and less mature, by response was to just avoid them - nowadays I'd expect myself to be a whole lot less harsh than that. Again, the answer is to be transparent about how you feel. They can't expect you to return feelings and you shouldn't feel like you should either, how things go from that point on should really be talked about between both parties. Again, probably easier said than done, but if you ask me frpm my, admittedly, detached POV, communication is the one thing people seem to lack when it comes to confusion over this stuff. Of course, if they start to make you feel uncomfortable by continuing to show feelings, you shouldn't be afraid to set boundaries either. To me, for obvious reasons, it's important that people respect the feelings of others, or lack thereof. What even is flirting; well... There's not much to discern it unless you're being REALLY overboard with your flirting. I mean, I can imagine some of the stuff i say and my friends say back, taken out of context, could probably be considered not just flirting, but EXTREME flirting lmao, but it's literally just banter and I can garuantee that for a fact. The only time it'd be really obvious is if, say, you meet someone for the first time and put your flirt game on where it's expected - like at a bar or something? Thus, why I don't believe in relying on flirting and think people should just be more honest and open about how they feel. I consider it... Rather inneficiant. How to deal with rejection; Couldn't say. Never been rejected cause I've never gone after someone, but... I'd expect, even if it hurts, for someone to understand that you cannot EXPECT someone to return feelings. There's no discussion on that matter, if someone isn't interested the best thing you can do is accept those feelings and move on, you're only going to make things worse if you don't. Again the best thing to do is communicate though... If you say you need space afterwards I think that's also perfectly fine. I'm sure a rejection WOULD be hard to work through, and the other person should also respect that as much as you should respect their turning you down. Are online friendships real; Yes. Of course they are, some of my best friends have been online. Don't get me wrong, you need face to face interaction. We haven't quite evolved to get the same boost out of text or disembodied voices as hanging out with irl friends, so they probably aren't gonna be QUITE as strong, but any emotional connection to someone else is still perfectly valid. As for romantic relationships... Hm... I mean - I've seen at least two YouTube couples that I can think of who started out online before moving together, and they have some of the strongest relationships I know. (Felix and Maria, Jeannie and Henry from MXR) But I don't think it's controversial to say that you probably need to meet in person before you can really start to see the potential of the relationship.

  38. @AquilaTempestas Catherine paused for a moment. On one hand she couldn’t let her guard down, not even for a child. On the other hand, The worst criminals already knew what she had done, so she figured everyone on the island would. And perhaps that would give her more connections to her past and strange abilities now. she resisted the urge to gulp. those strange dreams the boy had described... they sounded exactly like the ones she had at times, even as a child... she tried going to a therapist later on in life, but nothing had helped... she merely dismissed them as an annoyance, although one that was eerie and startling... but now... To you think they were connected to something supernatural, and possibly evidence that her crime was real... it was inconceivable before, and now she couldn’t think of anything else... So she let the words flow with a confidence that shocked even herself... she told the boy everything, about her family, her desire to protect them, and Ashley... about the dreams and the magic, and the suspicion that she may have actually done what she was accused of when she thought she was innocent before... and the fact that her past was connected to her present, and that unexpectedly and unintentionally led her here... The confidence continue to flow as she looked the boy straight in the eyes when she was done. At the end of her explanation, one thing was clear. whatever crime she did... Real or unreal... accused or innocent... she would face everything head on.

  39. Some more things Don't be afraid to write something disturbing and graphic Words are powerful. Sometimes it might be best to write certain emotional scenes when you yourself are feeling pretty emotional about stuff Don't try to change your writing to appease the masses When writing sex scenes, refrain from writing 'MMH OHH YEAH BABY' and treating these scenes like something from PornHub. Get educated people. Be careful with prose. Don't be overly descriptive with every single little detail. No one cares about that table. No one cares what the chair looks like. Just get to the bloody point Know your setting. If you are writing a story and it's set in Brisbane, Australia, please research the place first. It does not snow here.

  40. These are a few things which I've learnt from other authors. Respect others' choices. Do appreciate them for what they've written, not for what they like. Everybody has their own choices, be it fanon or canon. Don't look for characters while reading a story. Look for the content, but always feel free to read whatever you'd like to. Don't keep bragging about your favorite characters and favorite couples all the times. Just mentioning that he/she is your favorite ship or character is good enough instead of enumerating on it. Appreciate their work. Let out the emotions if you feel like erupting them after reading a particular fic. Just feel free to do that! Beautify an object, clothing or the atmosphere in a unique way. Look for alternative words instead of long sentences while describing something. Look out for synonyms as alternatives while using regular words. But don't waste too much time on descriptions. But medieval fantasies can be a exception. Don't use "then" too often, especially in every first sentence of every paragraph. Write in such a way that readers can feel the emotions of a character, i.e., clearly ensure that the reader is aware of a person's emotion. Do not make it vague. Instead of using too many OCs, just look for any other recurring canon character if its a fandom story. Utilize as many canon characters as possible instead of adding too many OCs and very few canon characters, Instead of too many OCs, just look for recurring characters in case if your fic needs many characters. Utilize the canon characters well except when you feel that a particular character won't suit the role due to her personality. Do not worry and feel left out or low if your choices are different from others or/and if your favorite ships or characters don't have so much of fics. You are always free to write whatever you like. Don't make readers take advantage of you and rule you. Stick to your own decisions lest you get any help. Meanwhile, you can write fics which readers' have requested.

  41. Other things I've learned Every author has their own unique style and thus should be respected Write what you want to write Keep chapter lengths consistent. Don't go from a 3000 word chapter to 10,000 words then 4000 words Don't describe what a character is wearing unless it's a plot device. Mention it once in the story if they wear the same thing frequently On that note, describe what is necessary for plot. Don't just throw things in there because it's fun Don't brag about how awesome you are and put down other authors Google is your best friend. Writing a court scene? Know how a court usually works for starters. Character taking a drug? Know about it Don't be afraid to emotionally invest yourself in your material. Make yourself depressed. Make yourself angry. Make yourself laugh. The best stories are the ones that leave an emotional impact on you even if the technique isn't the strongest. Many stories are emotionally dry - don't be one of those.
